STOP THE SPECULATION AND RELEASE THE REVIEW

 I refer to reports in The Australian today that the Treasurer has started talks with the mining industry to discuss tax proposals in the Henry Review.

 

I once again call on the Treasurer to immediately release the Henry Review in the public domain so that a full and transparent debate about tax reform can be had.

 

If the Treasurer is prepared to hold ‘behind-closed-door’ meetings with specific stakeholders, then he should also be prepared to discuss the Henry Review with all Australians who will be affected by Australia’s future tax reform.

 

The endless speculation on the contents of the Henry Review is creating massive uncertainty for both Australian businesses and Australian taxpayers. 

 

The Treasurer should immediately release the Henry Review to the public and put an end to this damaging speculation.
