QLD Flood Fundraiser in Cammeray

In January Joe attended a fundraising event in Cammeray for the victims of the Queensland floods.  The community get-together was organised by Maggio’s Café in conjunction with Jason Hodges from Better Homes and Gardens and the Bondi Vet, Chris Brown. 

Chinese New Year 2010

On Saturday 13 February Joe attended the Willoughby Chinese New Year Festival in Chatswood Mall. The Chinese community in Chatswood is extremely active and contributes a great deal to our community. It was a pleasure to be there and help them celebrate the beginning of the year of the tiger.

Remembrance Day 2009

Joe attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at Lane Cove Cenotaph in memory of those who died or suffered in wars and armed conflicts.

Young Love Foundation Morning Tea at Cammeray Golf Club

Joe was delighted to host a morning tea at Cammeray Golf Club in support of the Young Love Foundation, with special guests Founder Vicki Condon and Young Love Ambassador Mark Beretta. The Young Love Foundation is an organisation that provides mentoring and support to young people struggling with life's challenges.

North Sydney Community Awards

Member for North Sydney, the Hon. Joe Hockey MP, was delighted to organise and host the sixth annual North Sydney Community Awards at the North Sydney Leagues Club in Cammeray to honour the selfless efforts of members of our local community.

Christmas Card Competition Finalists

This year, around 450 entries were received from Boronia Park Public School, Cammeray Public School, Greenwich Public School, Lane Cove Public School, Neutral Bay Public School, St Mary’s Primary School and Willoughby Public School.

Third Place this year went to Daniel Harris from Year 6, Boronia Park Public School; Second Place went to Jasmine D’Arcy from Year 5, St Mary’s Primary School; and First Place went to Jewel Soares from Year 3, Lane Cove Public School.

Congratulations to the finalists this year and thank you to all students who submitted an entry in this year’s competition.

Joe Launches 'Sharity - Shares to Charity'

Joe Hockey joined Ross Greenwood to help launch this fantastic new charitable organisation which is designed to help people donate parcels of shares to charity. Congratulations to Don Clark and his wife Jan Worthington for their ingenuity and determination in establishing this wonderful organisation.

Northern Suburbs Netball Association Presentation Day 2008

Joe was delighted to attend the Northern Suburbs Netball Association Presentation Day on the 9th September, and was especially pleased to present the Joe Hockey Encouragement Award to the talented young netballer Emily Neal.

Congratulations to all the girls and to Toni Field, President of the Northern Suburbs Netball Association, on a magnificent season!

Joe Honours Local Servicemen

Recently, Joe had the pleasure of welcoming local servicemen and women to his office to present them with the Australian Defence Medal (ADM). 

The ADM is presented to all those who have served in the Army, Navy, or Air Force since the end of the Second World War.

Joe Cupcakes

Joe visited Lane Cove Public School to open a new covered outdoor learning area that was constructed with a $50,000 grant from the Howard government.

To express their appreciation, the parents arranged for a special surprise for Joe - cupcakes emblazoned with Joe's face. On his way to lunch at the Montiefore Retirement Village in Hunters Hill, Joe dropped one off at his son Xavier's playgroup.  Apparently Xavier was a little perturbed about eating something with dad's face on it, but the thought of a tastey cupcake eventually won him over!

Saving Graythwaite

Joe Hockey annouced the Coalition government's commitment to save Graythwaite through a $25 million action plan.

Australian Hearing - Telscreen Launch

The Hon. Joe Hockey MP launched Australian Hearing's Telscreen service at Kamilaroi Retirement Centre Lane Cove, on 10 October 2007. 

Telscreen is Australian Hearing's new national telephone service that allows Australian's to take a free hearing screening over the phone, any time, anywhere in Australia.
